CHILLICOTHE, OH — A man was arrested early Sunday morning after Chillicothe police say he broke a window at a Cherokee Road residence and then fled through several neighboring yards when officers arrived.
According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Cherokee Road shortly after 1 a.m. on August 17 for a reported burglary. A third-party caller reportedly told dispatch that a man had broken a window at the residence and that the homeowner had a firearm and was going to confront him.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the resident, who told police that he and his girlfriend had met another couple earlier in the evening and invited them back to the residence.
Police said an altercation later occurred involving a man identified in the report as Bradley Alan McAllister. The resident reportedly told officers that McAllister became angry after being asked to leave and allegedly threw a firearm inside the home before going outside.
According to the report, McAllister allegedly returned to the back door and punched a window, breaking it, before running from the property and jumping a backyard fence.
Officers began searching the surrounding area. Officer Justin Tuttle reported hearing bushes being disturbed near Oneida Road and spotted McAllister allegedly attempting to flee through a yard.
Tuttle ordered McAllister to stop, but police say he continued running and attempted to climb onto a low-hanging roof before eventually returning to the ground, where he was taken into custody.
Officers reported detecting a strong odor of alcohol on McAllister and described him as unsteady on his feet with slurred speech. Police also alleged that McAllister refused commands while being placed into a cruiser and had to be physically escorted inside.
McAllister was transported to the Ross County Jail and booked on charges of criminal mischief, obstructing official business, and disorderly conduct by intoxication.
The police report indicates McAllister was held in lieu of bond pending his initial appearance in Chillicothe Municipal Court.
All charges are allegations. McAllister is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
