CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A high-speed police chase through city streets on March 23, 2026, ended with the arrest of Anthony Thomas after his vehicle struck the corner of Expressway Drive-Thru, causing minor damage to the building.

According to the Chillicothe Police Department incident report, officers received a FLOCK license plate reader alert for a black Kia sedan associated with Thomas, who had active warrants for telecommunication harassment and a probation violation related to a temporary protection order. When officers attempted a traffic stop near Lunbeck Road, Thomas allegedly accelerated and fled, leading to a pursuit that covered about 4.6 miles and lasted roughly three and a half minutes.

During the chase, Thomas reached speeds up to 120 mph on South Bridge Street and approximately 105 mph on East Main Street. Police reported that he drove without due regard for safety, ran red lights at multiple intersections including those with Watt Street, Cutright Drive, and Douglas Avenue, crossed into oncoming traffic while passing vehicles, and nearly collided with others. The route included areas near a trailer park, S Bridge Street, E Main Street, and a turn onto Vincent Street.

The pursuit concluded when Thomas lost control during a right turn onto Vincent Street near Expressway Drive. His vehicle slid off the roadway and struck the corner of the Expressway Drive-Thru building. Thomas then exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after falling to the ground. No injuries were reported to officers, Thomas, or bystanders, and no additional evidence or contraband was found in the vehicle.

The owner of Expressway Drive-Thru, Deenna Harrington, reported the minor damage and provided insurance information from Ohio Mutual (policy BP0011674). Hill’s Towing was called to remove the vehicle.

Thomas was transported to the Ross County Jail. In addition to his existing warrants, he faces new charges including failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer (eluding or fleeing), failure to control, and reckless operation on a public street. He was also issued a traffic citation for reckless operation and failure to control.

The incident remains under review by the Chillicothe Police Department. Court proceedings details have not been released as of March 24, 2026.
