CHILLICOTHE, Ohio: A burst of color has taken over the Patricia Scott Art Gallery at Ohio University Chillicothe, where “Dive In,” an exhibition of artwork by Central Ohio artist Michael Kirk, opened last week with a reception inside Bennett Hall.
The exhibition will be on display through November 30. The gallery is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, so anyone can walk in and take a look during the week.
Kirk creates across several mediums, working in oil, acrylic, watercolor and cut paper. His expressive works focus on bright colors, juxtaposition and bold black outlines, and his current paintings center on abstract figures with repeating spheres and patterns.

The show takes its name from the way Kirk begins a piece. He starts new work with a curiosity that lets him dive in without knowing which direction he will go, and that sense of play runs through the paintings on the wall.

For local art lovers, the gallery makes for an easy lunch hour stop on the hilltop campus. “Dive In” stays up through the end of November, giving folks plenty of chances to see it before the show closes.
