ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A man currently serving a state prison sentence has been returned to the Ross County Jail as a separate felony case filed against him earlier this year remains pending.
Corey S. Moore, 35, was booked into the Ross County Jail on August 27, according to jail records. The booking lists a warrant charge, with the Ross County Sheriff’s Office identified as the arresting agency.
Moore is currently an inmate with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and is assigned to Chillicothe Correctional Institution. State prison records show he was admitted on April 8, 2026, following sentencing in Ross County Common Pleas Court case 24CR352.
ODRC records list an aggregate sentence of 2.5 years. The underlying offenses include two fourth-degree felony counts of assault and separate third- and fifth-degree felony counts of harassment by an inmate. His currently listed expected release or parole eligibility date is January 11, 2028.
However, Moore is also facing a separate criminal case in Ross County Common Pleas Court.
Court records show Moore was indicted May 1 in case 26CR000193 on two counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence, with both charges listed as fourth-degree felonies under Ohio Revised Code 4511.19. The charges remain pending, and an indictment is an accusation rather than a finding of guilt.

On July 24, the court scheduled the OVI case for a plea or trial setting on August 28 at 9 a.m. That same day, an order for a warrant for removal was filed. On July 28, the warrant for removal and a certified copy of the court’s entry were issued to the Ross County Sheriff for service.
Moore’s August 27 booking into the Ross County Jail appears consistent with that order, meaning he was brought from state prison into county custody so he could appear in the pending Ross County case. The records provided do not indicate that Moore was released from his existing state prison sentence.
The pending OVI case is assigned to Ross County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael M. Ater.
Moore remains listed as incarcerated by ODRC while the separate Ross County case moves through the court system.
