The Village of Waverly Water Department, in collaboration with the Fire Department, will commence a hydrant assessment on March 13, 2026, which may lead to temporary water discoloration for local residents. Conducted every Friday, weather and emergencies permitting, this evaluation of over 240 hydrants is part of ongoing efforts to assess and improve the water distribution system in Pike County, south central Ohio. The process involves opening hydrants to flow water, creating turbulence that can stir up sediments, but officials emphasize it is safe and should resolve quickly by running faucets.
Residents experiencing prolonged issues or with questions can reach Distribution and Collection Supervisor Ryan Williams at 740-941-0109, Water Treatment Facility Supervisor Aaron Buckler at 740-947-4996, or Fire Chief Jeff Minshall at 740-947-2826. The assessment is expected to span several months, and the department appreciates community patience during this essential maintenance.
